Bride & Groom

About the Bride & Groom!

Bride: Jacqueline Nguyen

Born and Raised: I was born in the Pioneer Hospital on July 18, 1984, in Artesia, California. I think I lived in Bellflower in Los Angeles and then moved to Fontana when I was in kindergarten.
Education: I went to preschool at a school that required me to wear uniforms, probably a catholic school, but I don’t really have any memories of it, so I’ll go straight to elementary school. I went to Elementary School at West Heritage Elementary School where she learned how to speak English, obviously not too well since she had to take special classes where she played games, eat candy and working on her pronunciation of certain letters like “s” and so on. At West Heritage, she participated in multiple after school activities like gymnastics, chorus, art, and piano lessons.
I then went to Etiwanda Intermediate School for grade 6-8 and that is where all the awkward stages of my life were held. I joined track and other after school activities like learning how to play Lemmings (for real!). I graduated valedictorian and that was basically the end of middle school!
I then attended Etiwanda High School, and was enrolled in multiple AP classes and took Latin as her language, for no particular reason either. She was a part of her school Drumline and played the synthesizer for her last 3 years and did marching band her last year. My days there involved hanging out with friends and having lots of fun. I was not a part of any “clicks” per say, but I did enjoy playing board games in my AP calc/physics class during lunch and keeping the bleachers warm during my sister’s badminton games! I don’t recall studying much but I did graduated with cum laude and other recognitions from my clubs like NHS and CSF. I guess I was nerd…
After high school I attended UCLA and went from Computer Science Engineer to Mathematics, and finally found my calling in Sociology! I enjoyed the peaceful long walks to class both north and south campus…I was an in-betweener. I became close friends with my roommates and have many fond memories of watching tv while everyone else was studying, weekly homemade dinners, Friends night, random flamenco dance dinner shows, random movie premieres and running in celebrities and trying to not freak out in front of them. I graduated in 3 years with a BA in Sociology and then pursued another career.
I went to the Art Institute for 2.5 years and studied Media Arts and Animation. I was basically a hermit in that school, but I learned a lot and graduated with honors. So now I am pursuing my dream of doing anything related to 3D technology and 3D films.
Career: Animator. It’s very broad and so I’ll just leave it at that. I also dabbled into some cake decorating and do that as a side job/hobby as well. Check out my stuff at Sweet Dreams.

Groom: Khoa Ngo

Born and Raised: Fountain Valley hospital. Raised in Westminster
Education: I barely remember my Preschool. I do remember that it was a Lutheran school (we’re catholic so I have no idea why we went there). The two big memories I have of preschool are 1) getting tired of shoveling sand with a small plastic shovel and trying to use my mouth as a transportation device and 2) smashing my front teeth on some monkey bars and having fake plastic teeth for a year or so. I went from kindergarten to 6th grade in a Catholic school, Blessed Sacrament. A notable thing that happened in elementary school is the time I ran full speed into a basketball pole and had a bump the size of a chicken egg on my head. After that, I went to Spring View middle school. I then moved on to Garden Grove High school. Some notable things there are: I was in ASB for the last year of High School, I was on the tennis team but sucked, I was in Garden Grove at the same time as my 3 of my cousins and 1 brother, me, my cousin Bao and my other cousin Lap took dance pictures together on 2 or 3 different occasions, I was nominated for some dance prince and had to perform at the “all girl’s” assembly… I’ll add more if I can remember. I then went to UCI as a Chemical Engineer. I struggled with that until I finally switched to Chemistry my last year of college. Towards the end of my college years, I met a girl that would change my life forever… so dramatic eh?
Career: Engineer – My job description is pretty broad. I work with a 3d modeling program called CATIA. The company I work for mostly does contracts for Boeing. Currently we are expanding our business to many new and exciting things. I do anything from teaching/giving presentations to modeling conceptual designs.
Likes: JACKIE (duh), Dancing, Singing, Good eating, figuring out and fixing computer issues (I’m a nerd, I know), movies, bumming it with Jackie right before we sleep, games, snowboarding, swimming, Hawaii, Ace of Bace (thanks Chi Tu!)
Dislikes: Sports (I’m not really a sports person, that doesn’t make me any less of a man), hot weather, being hungry… these are getting lame; I don’t really dislike many things.
Interesting things about me: I’ve performed acoustic and live rock music at the Block, the OC fair, various coffee shops, and various church events. I came into UCI as a Chemical Engineer, switched and graduated with a chemistry degree, but am now an engineer. I took a Jazz dance class while at UCI and enjoyed myself.
Favorite Foods: Lup xung (Chinese sausage), Noodle soup that my mom makes, Ruth Chris’ New York Steak, and of course, my baby’s lasagna
Favorite Movies: Moulin Rouge, Memento (spelling corrected, courtesy of Chi Tu!), The Wizard. Across the Universe and Garden State are close runners up.
Hobbies: Computer games, Snow Boarding, Singing randomly, Watching TV
